Evie and Pete met through sport and now they're ENGAGED! They told Ellie Clifford about how they fell for each other, over a squash ball.
How did you meet?
We met at Old Alleynian’s rugby club and became friends instantly. He had recently moved to London from Hartlepool and joined the club as it was the closest to his new flat. I had started going to the club with a friend of mine that helped out from time to time.
What is it about sport that brought you together?
Our first date (although at the time I didn’t think it was a date!) was to the local gym to play squash. It was relaxed, so much fun and just the two of us which in London can be hard to find when you start dating. There was no alcohol, no pressure to dress to impress plus the fact that we were already friends definitely helped with the strong connection we made.
Do you still play sport together?
We now go to spin together twice a week, play squash every couple of weeks and obviously I still cheer him on every Saturday at the rugby club.
Who's the better player?
Now Pete would say he is the best at sport and to be honest I would have to agree however I’m the better swimmer (he’ll give me that!).
